just finished karl taro greenfelds seminal book speed tribes. a very intense and brilliant work focusing on post-economic boom japan. among the 11 snippets of life were introduced to is that of the band zi:kill in the chapter, tusk: the twilight of the idols in which greenfeld illustrates the mechanics of the music biz in japan. i highly recommend the book, especially if the only images in your mind of japan are of the last samurai variety..........
